Dunns Horse & Mule Co - High Mountain Adventures for the Entire Family

A Little Piece of Heaven!
OUR CABIN was just renovation! It is located just minutes from town, high on a hill overlooking Currant Creek. The log cabin has two bedrooms and can comfortably sleep 6 people. It is very quiet and private, and will really let you settle into the mountain living experience.
Get away to Central Colorado for a wilderness horseback riding adventure in Guffey, between Fairplay and Canon City off Highway 9. Come up for a day of trail riding, or a week-long pack trip. We can provide horses and training for all skill levels.
Justin Dunn, owner and guide, has been an avid rider since he was a child. These days he's a ranch manager and professional horse trainer. He can guide you over hundreds of miles of private trails and open space.
TRAIL RIDES HALF AND FULL-DAY ADVENTURES:
You have never ridden anyplace quite like Guffey! The area averages about 9000 feet altitude, with many prominent hills rising over 11,000 feet. These peaks command impressive views for miles around. THIS ISN'T DUDE RANCH RIDING; you can ride where you want without being restricted to a few well-worn trails. See something interesting? We'll head that way! Your destination is limited only by your own skill as a rider. YOU DON'T NEED TO BE AN EXPERT. We've taken many first time riders over these hills and valleys.
Our normal half-day rides may be taken either in the morning or afternoon. Optionally, we can provide a cookout lunch, with grilled burgers at our teepee campsite (included with full-day rides).
INTERPRETIVE RIDES:
When you take an interpretive tour, you'll be accompanied by a professional scientist, who can point out the many interesting features of Guffey's geology, plants, and animals. You won't be riding a canned nature trail; go where you want and check out what interests you. The discussion will be informal and follow the ride. Material can be presented at any level, suitable for children through experts.
MULTI-DAY PACK TRIPS:
The ultimate way to explore the mountains of central Colorado is on a horse. This is an area largely unknown to most people, a region of hills and valleys, unexpected streams and draws, forgotten mines and homesteads. It's a mix of wilderness and high mountain ranches. You'll come across magnificent rock formations, ancient bristlecone pines, herds of elk. Call for details.
